Pennridge’s Got Talent

The PHS talent show is an exciting and spirited event, so make sure to come to school on April 8th because you will not want to miss it!

School is ending soon, and this means the talent show is also approaching! The PHS talent show is an anticipated event that allows various individuals to showcase their talents. Students of all grades are welcome to try out to participate in the display of captivating acts. This year’s show will take place in the PHS auditorium during the school day on Wednesday, April 8th. Tryouts for the talent show are no longer continuing, but there are specific guidelines that were required for sign-ups. Participants must enter their name, or names, if in a group, and contact information for any important updates and news for the upcoming future. All acts must be at most five minutes, and it is required that they are approved by Dr. Cashman beforehand.

The talent show is organized and hosted by the student council, which is led by Mr. Dyer, a teacher at PHS. Dyer and the members of the student council plan out the auditions, oversee rehearsals before the show and manage lighting and props. Student council member, Sarah Kircher, plays a significant role in the talent show. She helped watch and organize the tryout process and will proceed to improve the event function for the day of the show. Kircher will be working behind the scenes with another student council member, Georgia Dolan, and a committee of five to eight other members. This group of students will help acts get ready onstage, handle props, be in contact with people who manage the lights and make sure that the day is running smoothly with all acts prepared. Kircher says that the show will likely consist of “a variety of talents: singing, dancing, skits, rapping, and a rock band.” She says that people enjoy funny skits and talented singers, but a fan favorite is the dance team.

For the past four years, the PHS dance team has participated in the talent show. Although the dance team performs at varsity boys’ basketball games, not everyone can see an amazing talent. PHS junior and member of the dance team for three years, Rachael Hass, has continuously participated in the talent show with the team. She says that the format of practicing for the talent show differs from the usual practices that the team has. Hass explains that the team prepares with “a lot of practice, and you have to have an open mind, positive attitude, and be able to adapt to new line changes.” The team usually performs in a gym, however, the auditorium stage has different dimensions that may require lines to be formatted differently. This tradition of the dance team appearing in the talent show is exciting and anticipated by many students and faculty.
