The 2000’s

The early to mid-2000s was filled with bold colors, regrettable fashion, fun fads, and the start of social media.

Low rise jeans. A topic that is either love or hate. I remember everyone would wear these pants, especially in movies. The 2000s coming-of-age movies with Amanda Bynes, Hilary Duff, and Lindsay Lohan inspired the viewers with a new fashion sense. Graphic shirts and Juicy Couture were a staple in the closets of teens. Another style was the grunge look, with studded belts and baggy pants with a wide choker necklace

Moving onto the fads of the 2000s, who remembers Bratz, Barbies, Tech Decks, Razor scooters, Wii, Zhu Zhu Pets, and more. Allison Gorton said, “the scooters from gym class”. These scooters were a fan favorite for everyone! Whether you were sitting or laying on your stomach someone would always manage to pinch or run over your finger. In elementary school, I vividly remember trading silly bands and ‘selling’ rainbow loom bracelets. Lauren Mauer said that barbie dolls were a big part of her childhood.

I believe that early 2000s kids grew up with the last of the remarkable television shows. We had Drake & Josh, Lizzie McGuire, iCarly, Hannah Montana, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, and more! These shows would present harmless pranks, jokes, and comical acts. Popular movies such as, She’s The Man, Mean Girls, and Legally Blonde were classics and portrayed how different fashion has evolved.

Overall, kids that grew up in the 2000s were brought up with crazy colors and wacky fashion trends and fads. These trends have shaped us into who we are now and leaving us with memories and nostalgia of our childhood.
