On 606 West Chestnut Street in Perkasie, Pennsylvania lies a newly founded bar and restaurant known simply as The Ram. Established in 2020 by the Wade Family of Perkasie, they’re dedicated to the families and residents of our small town. At the time of writing this, they are currently open for indoor dining under reservations on specific days, being Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The foods here range from very consistent bar foods to family-style entrees. For example, there are currently 6 burgers, 2 types of cheesesteaks, and 3 options for wings. These are well-known staples of traditional bar foods in America. However, there are entrees available such as the Chicken Parmesan & Linguine, Crab Cakes, “Beyond Meatloaf”, and the 14-Oz Kansas City Style Pork Chop. These are more traditional homestyle foods also available at The Ram. This emphasizes one of their main goals, which is to appeal to the families and residents of Perkasie by offering an assortment of foods.

The Ram has been quoted in a recent article about their restaurant as saying “We took a lot of care in trying to maintain the bones of this classic building-which was originally constructed in 1922 by Gilbert Thompson.” This is true, as this building was built as a hardware store when Mr. Thompson tore down the original property, which was a homestead. The hardware store was always revered in Perkasie for having a fantastic design in both convenience and arrangement. Honoring his memory, they celebrate the history of Perkasie by keeping alive the spirits of the community. 

In a recent interview with Olivia Stolarski, a hostess at The Ram, she explained her daily routine while working at The Ram. As a hostess, Olivia takes phone calls and seat tables. She exclaimed, “I really enjoy my time there!” after being asked about the job. A customer who dined at the freshly opened restaurant, Emily Franks, described the interior as “home feeling”, and she admired the Pennridge memorabilia such as football jerseys, helmets, baseball bats, and Pennridge’s colors: green and white, showcased throughout the dining room. The interior decor embodies the name The Ram and displays the restaurant as a community-friendly place.

Due to the pandemic, the opening of their restaurant was a bit different and much more of a tedious process than the owners had anticipated. The owners of The Ram, the Wade Family, had many obstacles to overcome in order to get the restaurant up and running. As you could imagine, joining the culinary industry amidst a pandemic could be tricky due to the safety restrictions and guidelines that must be met to ensure the safety of the customers and employees. However, there is a silver lining of deciding to open when they did. Times right now are especially tough, and The Ram is a new way for the community to come together as a whole. To conclude, the new restaurant seems to be a great place for delicious food and good company.
