Mondays with a Mission

“Does someone have a case of the Mondays?” This is a famous line from the movie Office Space which came out in 1999. Although you may not have seen the movie, this quote resonates with many of us- alluding to the struggle we have with getting up and ready for the week ahead after a weekend. This past school year has definitely had its challenges and switching from launch days on Mondays to full days was something that was going to add a twist into the start of our week. To help combat the “case of the Mondays,” the Pennridge staff has decided to join in an effort to bring us together and to be united for a positive cause. Over 100 staff members have committed to “Mondays with a Mission.” This is a fundraising effort in which the PHS staff has donated money to dress in spirit wear on Mondays to support a non-profit or local organization that is randomly chosen from a pre-selected list each week. Over $2000 was raised at the start of the fundraiser and the money is distributed and donated to a new organization each week. It has been great to share this experience with each other and to learn about so many of the organizations that staff members suggested as ones that are important to them. If you listen to the announcements each Monday morning, you will hear a little about the organization and the spirit wear that goes with that week. We have learned that when times are tough, it is through unity, positivity, support, and encouragement that we can get through it together. This fundraising effort has brought that to our Mondays and we look forward to each week to share in this together.
