A Pennridge High School Reflection From the Class of ‘21

Remember four years ago in 9th grade, when we were all excited to start high school, and how far away 2021 was, and the day of graduation … the day we couldn’t wait for. Well, it’s 36 days away; the best day of our lives as we say. High school flew by and we can’t believe that we will be in the real world in 36 days… 36! Most of us are going to go our separate ways and part to different parts of Pennsylvania, even other states. That’s scary but let’s look at the bigger picture and look back at all the good times and even the not-so-good times we had at Pennridge High School.

Pennridge has brought the Class of 2021 so much joy and so much sadness at the same time. They have brought us joy both freshman and sophomore year having events such as homecoming, football games, and Mini-THON. From our survey participants, 43 percent of students said that their favorite part of High School was school-sponsored activities such as homecoming, football games, p-block, and Mini-THON. The other 57 percent of students said that their favorite part of high school was having wonderful teachers who brought out the best in them academically, classes they enjoyed, and extracurricular activities. Camryn Romeo a senior at Pennridge High School stated that “my favorite memory from high school was being elected as P-block leader”. The Class of 2021 has experienced sadness as well with multiple things. The class experienced sadness in their junior and senior year because of COVID-19. Everyone was so bummed out when they sent us home on March 13, 2020, for two weeks that turned into finishing out the junior year at home. This meant no fun school activities such as junior prom, and Mini-THON. Another hardship experienced for the junior class was no in-person college visits.

Although the senior year was originally hybrid, the senior class is now back full-time, and everyone enjoys being here with the rest of the grade. We as a class have struggled greatly with having no spectators at sporting events, and no homecoming. Our grade has pushed greatly through the current circumstances.

A lot of Pennridge seniors will be attending college in the fall and some of the seniors will be going straight into the workforce. From our survey, 93.8 percent of students are going to college and the other 6.2 percent are going straight into the work field. Anna Rodebaugh, a student at CB West says that her after-school plans include “…going to West Chester University”. As we know college isn’t for everyone and that’s totally okay. Some students at Pennridge High School are going straight into the work field. Most of these kids will obtain an Upper Bucks County Technical School Degree.

We are very grateful for the people that are doing this. Although graduation is coming closer and closer every day, we as a senior class have experienced so much variety in the past four years and now it’s time for all of us to part our separate ways. To Pennridge High School, the Class of 2021 thank you for everything, and best of luck to everyone in this class!
