Many people may think once you run or work at a business you have it all locked down. When in fact everyone from business owners to employees and customers has their embarrassing moments. Embarrassing moments bring many together for a laugh and can usually relate to one another. Though embarrassing moments don’t feel so good while in the moment, they turn into a funny story you and others can chuckle at. These cringe moments help us to grow and reflect. Whether you are the head of the business or an employee, we all share one thing in common, an embarrassing moment at work.

Shannon Lelli, who is an entrepreneur, businesswoman, and the owner of Planet Smoothie in Doylestown, certainly remembers one of her most embarrassing moments while working. It was an ordinary day at Planet Smoothie, the sun was shining and customer after customer was coming in to get their delicious smoothies. Shannon loves to interact with her customers and get to know them more. A woman walked into the store, as per usual the women order her smoothie and Shannon starts to talk to the woman. Shannon noticed the woman had a slim structured body with a large round bump coming from her stomach region. Shannon looked at the girl’s stomach and asked, “how many weeks along are you?” the woman then responded, “I am not pregnant.” Shannon felt so embarrassed, she explained that she wanted to hide behind the counter and never be seen again. This moment taught Shannon a veryvaluable lesson to never assume someone is pregnant. Shannon has never asked that question ever again. Many of us can relate to a similarly embarrassing moment like Shannon’s.

An employee at Planet Smoothie recalled another embarrassing moment while working. Rachel Madden, the manager at Planet Smoothie and a former Pennridge student thought back to her embarrassing moment. It was an average beautiful day, a customer came into Planet Smoothie to get a freshening smoothie; Rachel took and started prepping their order. As Rachel was putting the lid on the blender it slipped off the counter and splashed everywhere. Rachel was covered in pink smoothie; the ground and counters were also covered. Rachel recalls feeling so embarrassed that she made a huge mess and was covered in smoothie for the rest of her shift. During that moment Rachel felt embarrassed but she can now reflect on this moment and laugh.

These everyday examples of embarrassing moments help us to relate and laugh. Everyone experiences some sort of embarrassing moment while at work whether that be with a customer or just a silly accident. At the moment you feel like your life is over and you just want to hide away, but eventually, it is something you laugh about. Embarrassing moments help us to reflect and improve.
