Oh, the Places We’ll Go…
Sara Casey will be attending Temple University starting in the fall to major in biology. She plans on focusing on the pre-med route, as she hopes to attend medical school after receiving her undergraduate degree. Sara chose Temple as her dad works there so she has grown up knowing Temple, and her sister is also currently a freshman there. She is looking forward to studying abroad in Rome, Italy, meeting tons of new people, and exploring the city. Sara is most excited about “the freedom from my parents”, as she is looking forward to independence and a sense of responsibility.
Ryan Healy will be attending Penn State University this fall as a biology major focusing on the pre-med track. He chose Penn State because when he visited, he knew it had instantly become his favorite choice. Penn State also is a great school for his major, biology, along with also having a great pre-med program. Before making his final decision, Ryan also considered the University of Delaware and Villanova University, but Penn State University won him over. During his years at Penn State, Ryan is looking forward to the football games the most because they are always filled with fun and are simply unforgettable.
Brooklynn Hudgins is committed to playing NCAA Division 2 women’s soccer at Tusculum University starting in the fall. She intends on majoring in biology while also minoring in psychology. Brooklynn chose Tusculum University because she wanted to go back down South as she stated, “that is where all my family lives and I love the overall environment of the South”. She also felt as if the school was a perfect fit for her, as it is a smaller school that gives her the opportunity to play soccer. Brooklynn was also considering the University of Idaho, Jefferson University, Wingate University, and Lenoir Rhyne for soccer recruiting purposes. She is looking forward to growing as a person and finding the passion that she will spend the rest of her life doing, as well as meeting new friends and building connections with people all over the world.
Sammi McBride will be attending DeSales University in the fall where she will be majoring in business and will be playing NCAA Division 3 women’s soccer for them. Sammi felt as if DeSales was the best fit for her as it had smaller class sizes, a great business program, and is close to home. She considered other schools including Wilkes University, University of Scranton, West Chester University, Penn State University, and Saint Joseph’s University before making her decision. Sammi is looking forward to continuing her education, meeting tons of new people, and being a part of DeSales University’s women’s soccer team.
Amanda Baranowski is planning on attending The University of South Carolina starting in the fall. Her current major is broadcast journalism, but this is subject to change if needed as she is unsure right now. Amanda chose The University of South Carolina for a few reasons, she loved the location of the school as she had always wanted to go to a southern university, they have a large liberal arts college, and there are tons of extracurricular activities available to students. When asked what she was looking forward to the most during her years there, she stated, “I am looking forward to finding a career path that I really enjoy doing and really branching out on my interests”. Amanda is also looking to get involved with a philanthropy group or something to do with art and is excited to meet new people and start in a completely new environment.
Sarah Kircher will be attending Penn State University as a part of their Schreyer Honors College in the fall. One of the reasons she chose here was because her dad went to Penn State, so she had grown up visiting the campus a lot and is very comfortable with it. She stated that “it almost feels like a second home” when talking about Penn State. Sarah intends on majoring in mathematics with a potential double major or minor in computer science. She is looking forward to getting involved in many ways at Penn State including joining the world’s largest philanthropic organization, THON. She is also looking to join a dance group, become a part of student government, attend all of the football and basketball games, and make lifelong friendships over her years there.
Payton Mann will be attending York College of Pennsylvania to major in nursing and to continue her track and field career by playing for their NCAA Division 3 track and field team. She chose York College of Pennsylvania because she fell in love with the campus, received a ton of scholarship money(the cheapest option for her), and loved the idea of continuing her athletic career. Before making her final decision, Payton seriously considered Penn State University since they have a very strong nursing program, but she decided that going to a school that was more affordable for her was more important than the name of the college. Payton is most excited to continue her athletic career over the next four years, as she is excited to have a built-in second family and to be a part of the time.
Brooke Swartley plans on attending Kutztown University this fall to major in biology on the pre-med route. She is considering becoming a nutritionist in the future but is unsure so she chose biology because you can do a lot with that degree. Brooke chose Kutztown because it was close to home, near her grandparents, is affordable, and her sister also went there. She did not apply to any other schools as she had originally considered taking a gap year due to covid. She is looking forward to hopefully studying abroad in New Zealand at some point and cannot wait to move out. Overall, Brooke is looking forward to meeting new people and the new experiences that are to come.
