Chipotle vs. Moe’s
When you are in the mood for fast Mexican food, what are some of the first places that come to mind? There are most likely many names that come to your head including Moe’s and Chipotle. How do you decide which one to go to? I wanted to know the same thing. I did the research, so you didn’t have to. There are many factors that play into what restaurant to go to other than taste. The environment of the restaurant, price, and variety of the menu are all important factors as well.
Chipotle has become very popular throughout the years with over 2,600 locations. They are known for their advertisement of using raw ingredients with no artificial coloring, flavors, or preservatives. They claim that the only preservatives they use are lemon or lime juice which are mainly used for flavoring. Chipotle makes it known that their values are knowing there is a connection between how food is raised and prepared, and how it tastes. They follow these values by explaining the nutritional value of each of the ingredients as well as getting fresh produce from farms. Chipotle has more of a simple menu where they offer burritos, burrito bowls, tacos, and salads. Matt Dubyk, a Chipotle customer, states, “One pro of going to Chipotle is it seems fresher and the bowls give you so much food for the price.” The pricing at Chipotle is reasonable considering the amount of food you get.
Moe’s is popular as well, but does not have as many locations as Chipotle. The biggest difference between Chipotle and Moe’s seems to be the values each one holds. Chipotle likes to make it very clear where their ingredients are coming from, whereas Moe’s does not state as clearly where exactly their ingredients come from. Moe’s menu does seem to have more variety. Their menu includes quesadillas, burritos, burrito bowls, tacos, nachos, salads, and even a Stack, their version of a Taco Bell crunchwrap supreme. They also have a Coca-Cola freestyle machine with tons of drink options. Colin Post, a Moe’s customer, states, “I prefer Moe’s over Chipotle because of the whole package you get at Moe’s with the unlimited chips and the soda machine. I think the burritos are similar in taste and the chips put Moe’s over the top for me.” You get free chips and salsa with every entree at Moe’s where at Chipotle you always have to pay for chips and salsa. Overall, I don’t think either option, Chipotle or Moe’s is a bad option. You just have to take into consideration what you are in the mood for when deciding which one to go to.
