Pennridge Rams Men’s Volleyball

The Pennridge Rams Men’s Volleyball team secured a 3-1 win against the Quakertown Panthers on Thursday, April 21 in the Panthers gym. Quakertown had a strong start and won the first set 25-19. This did not last, however, as Pennridge won the second, third, and fourth sets. Quakertown did not score more than 18 points in the last three sets of the match. When looking at the stats from the season, we can see that Pennridge was favored to win from the start. Pennridge has more kills, attack attempts, total serves, total blocks, digs, assists, and receptions from their season so far than Quakertown does. This does not mean that both teams did not play their best, and feel they could have done something differently while playing.

Players to look out for from Pennridge were senior captains Riley Kodiek, and Tyler Johnson. As well as junior, Thomas Mckinney. At their game against Quakertown, Mckinney had 11 kills and 10 digs. He felt that he played pretty well, stating “I tried not to get too frustrated after getting blocked and it really showed once I had a good hit the next rally.” The team as a whole also played well and had a good rhythm on the court. Alex Dirt, a senior on Pennridge, stated that he felt he “..could have served cross court more.” This was made up for by Mckinney, who felt he made some good cross-court spikes. He stated, “…and personally, I think my cross-court spikes were well placed.” The team as a whole believes that they had a good game if you just ignore the first set.

Quakertown’s players to watch were the three senior captains: Cody Steiert, Zander Marks, and Micah Reinford. Understandably, their spirits were not as high after the game. That being said, they could still find positives from the game. Steiert felt the team had good blocking, he said, “Blocking, we were good at blocking. We were always up on our feet and pushing over with good technique.” He felt that the few mistakes made in the middle of the game are what helped them lose. Steiert said, “As a team, we could have motivated ourselves more in order to make fewer errors.”

Both the men’s volleyball teams are coming close to the end of the season. The Pennridge Rams have eight games left, and the Quakertown Panthers have seven games left. The Pennridge Rams are third in their league and expected to be seen in the playoffs. Come out to honor the Quakertown seniors on May 6, 2022, at Quakertown Highschool, and the Pennridge’s seniors on May 11, 2022, at Pennridge Highschool. Bring posters, energy, and school spirit to cheer on your favorite seniors! With the season, and school year, coming to an end there are not many sports games left to attend, so make the most of the games left!
