Recap on the Eagles Vs. 49ers playoff and Predictions for The Superbowl
The Philadelphia Eagles advance to the Super Bowl LVII after winning 31-7 against the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers received two major injuries during the game; an elbow injury to the quarterback, Brock Purdy, and a concussion to another quarterback, Josh Johnson. Purdy was put back in the game after Johnson was ejected for an injury. “I think the Eagles are the best team in the league regardless,” said Jim Davis, an Eagles fan. The 49ers played a little too aggressively in the playoff; the Eagles, on the other hand, played great and made two touchdowns in the second quarter. Kenneth Gainwell played well in the previous game and continued to do so, especially in the second quarter. All in all, the Eagles played a good game and will carry on in the super bowl this Sunday at Glendale Arizona.
The Philadelphia Eagles won the super bowl once in 2018, scoring 41-33 versus the New England Patriots. The Chiefs have won the super bowl twice, both in 1970 and recently in 2020. Both the Eagles and the Chiefs finished 14-3 in the regular season. According to Davis, both teams have a great offense, but he believes the Eagles’ defense will be able to contain the Chiefs’ offense and hopes that the Eagles will take the Vince Lombardi Trophy home. Jalen Hurts’ amazing skills of throwing deep balls, outrunning defenders on the edge, and other amazing abilities are what most Eagles fans hope will help them win the game.
The Eagles are going against the Kansas City Chiefs in the super bowl. Last season the Los Angeles Rams won the super bowl, but are not in the final this year. The Kelce brothers meeting head to head in the Superbowl is one of the things that is making the super bowl exciting. Jason Kelce is playing for the Eagles, and his brother, Travis Kelce, is playing for the Chiefs. Madison Doyle, a student-athlete at Penridge High School, thinks the Kelce brothers playing head-to-head is a bittersweet situation, but is still a win-win for both Travis and Jason.
The Kansas City Chiefs Patrick Mahomes is the youngest quarterback in NFL history to start two super bowls and is the youngest quarterback in NFL history to be named MVP in both the super bowls and the leagues. This super bowl is going to be Mahomes third appearance in the super bowl after winning super bowl 54 and losing super bowl 55. There is a lot of pressure on Mahomes to bring home the trophy because of his skill; he made 41 touchdown passes, and 12 interceptions in the 2022 season.
The odds are not in the favor of the Eagles in the money line bets; the Eagles have a -120, and the Chiefs have a +107. The odds remain in the Chiefs’ favor on the spread bet with the Eagles’ -1.5, and the Chiefs’ +1.5. Over/under bets are bets that predict the number of points made. Odds are in favor of both teams, since they have an equal score, since 51 over is -110, and 51 under is also -110. Despite the odds mainly being in favor of the Chiefs, Doyle believes the Eagles will win the super bowl. Tune in on Sunday, Feb. 12, at 6:30 p.m. eastern time to support your desired team.
