There is always a lot going on at the end of the school year. Although it may sometimes feel stressful, there are various fun events and activities to participate in! It may be bittersweet before leaving for college, but these events will help ease the nerves! Ryann Bennet, a Senior at Pennridge High School, said, “Yes, I am excited! I’m a little sad, but not too much. I’m a little nervous.” Every senior is no doubt feeling all the emotions. The Class of 2023 has planned a whole schedule of events that you should be sure to attend before wrapping up your time here at Pennridge!

One of the first events is the senior sunrise. The senior sunrise is May 26. This sunrise will start at 5 a.m. Seniors are encouraged to DIY “Senior Jeans” with their college on them or wear their future college apparel. The senior sunrise is a fun and memorable time for seniors to reconcile with their classmates before their last day of high school! There will also be music playing on the speakers during this event, bringing a fun vibe to the whole event.

The next big event is the senior cookout. This event is on May 31 at Helman Field. At this event, teachers will be grilling hotdogs and hamburgers for the class of 2023! There will also be fun yard games for students to participate in. It will be a great way to socialize with your fellow seniors and grab a yummy bite to eat.

On June 1, seniors will have cap and gown pickup based on their designated time by the first letter of their last name. Each student will receive a cap, gown, and seven tickets to graduation. Seniors will also have the opportunity to participate in the senior walk on this day. This event allows students to walk through the high school with friends and family from 5 – 7 p.m. They will be able to take photographs throughout the school. These photos are great keepsakes and will surely create good memories with friends and family!

Friday, June 2, is one of everyone’s favorite events: prom! The morning of prom, the executive council is hosting a senior breakfast! This breakfast includes delicious breakfast sandwiches and other yummy breakfast items. Eating a good breakfast will help you prepare for the crazy night ahead. Prom this year is from 6:30 – 10 p.m. at the Steelstacks in Bethlehem. The theme this year is the golden gala. There will be beautiful decorations, fun music, and fantastic food. It will surely be a prom you don’t want to miss!

The following week on Monday, June 5, Seniors will participate in a mandatory graduation practice. It will be located in the white gym starting at 11:40 a.m. This is one of the last times seniors will be in Pennridge High School! After the practice, students will have the opportunity to participate in the senior stroll. This event allows students to return to their elementary school and walk the halls as a senior. Seniors will be sure to have a bittersweet and full-circle moment.

All of this leads to Tuesday, June 6, graduation day!!! This is the day that every senior has been waiting for. This year’s graduation is at Lehigh University at 6 p.m. Seniors will meet at the high school at 4:10 p.m. and ride down to the University on busses. This is the last time the seniors will all be together before going their separate ways. It will surely bring on lots of emotions, whether excitement, nervousness, sadness, or joy.

Overall, there are so many fun and exciting senior events coming up. It can be stressful at the end of the school year with finals and lots of projects. When asked if they did a good job making the senior year memorable, Peyton Meenan said, “I think they tried well, but they should decrease the amount of work at the end of the year because it is hard to have fun when you have a lot of work to do.” These events and activities will help you destress and offer some relief even though you may be amidst piles of schoolwork. We hope to see you at all of these fun events!
