When you think of Australia, the first thing that probably comes to mind are the larger-than-life bugs, the Australian accent, and the beautiful structures like the Sydney Opera House. While those are great elements that encapture large parts of Australia, the other marvelous adventures in the outback await your visit!
In Australia, there are many cool activities you may be able to encounter. Visit the Hyde Park Barracks located in Sydney, Australia for a chilling adventure to learn and immerse yourself into what it was like to be a convict in the early 1800s. Get in touch with the aboriginal side of Australia and visit Mossman Gorge, located in Queensland, Australia, which is home to the oldest continually surviving rainforest on earth! “My favorite thing about visiting Australia was definitely learning about the different cultures and learning about the history of the buildings there,” said Kathy Brand, a traveler who was recently in Australia on vacation.
If history isn’t your thing, then you don’t have to worry! Taronga Zoo, located in Mosman, Australia, is also a wonderful day trip and is most certainly a must-see. Get up nice and close to Australia’s famous animals such as koalas and kangaroos and experience many different wonderful live shows with all different types of animals. Another awesome way to experience the animal life of Australia is by visiting Hartley’s Crocodile Zoo, located in Wangetti, Australia, where you can watch zookeepers feed crocodiles live, attend informational shows about all the animals and even have the chance to feed wallabies. “I loved the reptile zoo we went to because they had a ton of fruit bats and I loved seeing them,” says Pennridge High School student, Arden Donohue.
Nothing can beat the beautiful Sydney Harbor. Take a tour of the Sydney Opera House, where you’d get exclusive inside access and learn information about how the architecture was designed, and the history of the building, and see the amazing performance spaces. Also in Sydney Harbor, you can challenge yourself by trekking up the Sydney Harbor Bridge. The structure is just about 440 feet tall and overlooks Sydney Harbor. Over 3 million people have accomplished the great climb and it scored 100 percent on their safety rating. Sydney, Australia is a gorgeous city that has plenty to adventure into, and walking around for the day is the perfect thing to do if you’re looking to relax and enjoy your time there. “My favorite part of Australia was walking around Sydney Harbor because it was a really beautiful day and going to all the little shops was fun,” says Pennridge High School student, Sophia Ciampa.
Australia is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience and even though it’s a long trip just to get there, every adventure you can take and the opportunity to learn while traveling makes it all completely worth the time.
