Voted for the Suburban One League Colonial Division Honorable Mention team, Parker Annan had an outstanding season for Pennridge Rams men’s soccer. Despite the team’s season and not making playoffs, Annan stood out as a top player amongst all the coaches in the conference. The winger proved he could play anywhere, including the striker and center midfield positions. Annan strived to score goals as he was always in the right place. Annan proved this by scoring four goals and assisting six of their teammate’s goals. Despite not being the biggest or the strongest, Annan’s technical aspect of the game makes him stand out as a player. Heading into his senior year, Annan strives to “win games and make it into playoffs” to capitalize on his final high school season.
Annan states that his most outstanding career achievement is making the honorable mention conference team. He is a very passionate player who loves expressing his emotions about his exceptional achievements. His favorite coach was his father, Scott Annan, who has shaped him as a player and keeps pushing him to the best of his ability. He plays for Hex Fc 2008 Boys ECNL, where he had a great previous season and looks to recreate the same season but driven for more.
Annan is just like any other 16-year-old boy outside of soccer. He is either out with his friends, hanging out with his family, or playing video games. In the offseason, usually in summer, he likes to go to the beach with friends and family. He enjoys hanging out with his friend and teammate Matthew Walloff, and they play EAFC with each other on Xbox. Walloff is also Annan’s favorite teammate he has played with, and they have been on each other’s team ever since they were young. They always go to the gym with each other and practice together to make each other better. Their friendship is truly inspiring as they make a difference in each other’s lives and know they can improve one another.
Struggling with knee problems and overcoming a pulled quad the first year, Annan has returned more vital than ever, persevering through his injuries. If there was one word to describe Annan, it would be “relentless.” Even when the team was down by multiple goals, he picked everyone up and never stopped going until the buzzer went off. Parker is a great leader on and off the field, which is why he will be a captain next season. His determination and work ethic make him a difference-maker on the field. Gavin Dimmick, senior goalkeeper, views Annan as a “very technical and versatile player.” Dimmick goes on to say how he was an important key figure in our season. He explains, “If it were not for Parker’s playmaking and contribution to the attack and midfield, we would most likely have an even worse season.” This shows Annan’s importance to the team and what he meant to the shot-stopper.
Annan got involved in soccer from an early age. His family always talked about and played soccer, which, to Annan, “inspired me to play.” He shares his love of the sport by supporting professional teams and talking about the sport with his friends. His favorite sports team is Tottenham Hotspur F.C., which plays in the Premier League in the United Kingdom. His older brother Quinn has been a significant role model in Annan’s life, as he was one of the main reasons for Annan’s love and passion for soccer. Annan uploads clips of him playing on Hudl to gain the attention of college coaches and the community.
Annan has officially begun his journey toward college as he navigates the process of finding the right school for him. Over the next few months, he will participate in several showcase events organized for his club team. These events are key opportunities for him to showcase his athletic skills and attract the attention of college scouts and coaches who are looking for talented players. Annan has a clear goal in mind: he wants to continue playing sports at the college level while also studying for a degree in a subject that interests him. He understands the importance of balancing athletics and academics, as both are vital for his future.
With his natural talent and dedication, there is no doubt that Annan has the potential to go far in his athletic career. People often say that the sky is the limit, and this phrase perfectly describes Annan’s possibilities. He is committed to doing everything he can to improve his skills. Annan sets aside time to practice on his own, dedicating himself to training and refining his abilities outside of team practices. This independent effort shows his determination to succeed and his understanding that a strong work ethic is essential for achieving his goals. With continual practice and focus, Annan is building a solid foundation for a successful future both in sports and in his education.
