Audrey Frentzen, a 17-year-old senior in high school, has been known to be a force in the goal of the Pennridge field hockey team all four years. On and off the field, Audrey always has a positive energy, bringing up everyone else around her. Frentzen has over twenty mentions in the Suburban One paper during her four high school years, showing how she stuck out on the field as one of the highest goal scorers and someone with constant improvement.
Audrey has been playing field hockey since seventh grade when her love for the sport was first sparked. Strong bonds with her family, especially her mom, allow Audrey to get through any negative experience and be supported and celebrated in all her achievements. Audrey spends a lot of her time at the turf during the season, but during her off time, she tries to do activities for herself, including reading, spending time with family, or just relaxing on a day off. During her four years in high school, Audrey has had many impressive achievements, for which she has been awarded. Last year, the field hockey head coach, Becky Sphar, gave her the captain award. This award showed Audrey’s confidence and effect on the team, even though she was only a junior. Audrey was also given the RAMS athletic award last year from the high school athletic program. This award portrayed how Audrey stands out from other athletes in her school and how her hard work pays off.
Along with Audrey’s school awards, she was also recognized as one of the top field hockey players in Bucks County for the 2024 season. On the Philly Burbs website, they recognized Audrey for this award after she scored the game-winning goal to give the Rams their first victory over CB South. Throughout the season, Audrey was a star player who people could always count on for anything. Whether we won or lost a game, Audrey was always looking to get better and improve our teams’ tactics and chemistry. She stuck out as a leader that the underclassman went to for any problem, whether driving people to practices and games or catching up with teammates on school and hobbies. She always cared about the people around her and how they were genuinely doing. Audrey has a very bubbly and upbeat personality that makes first-year and upper-level students feel welcomed and included.
In the Suburban One Sports Articles, Audrey has often been mentioned and shouted out by her coaches or teammates. One shoutout in an article from her current coach, Elena Romesburg, after versing Central Bucks South on a senior night was, “Audrey Frentzen was a force in the goal circle this year and always made her mark on the field with her speed and consistency.” Elena shows the significant difference that Audrey made and how grateful the whole team was this year for her hard work and dedication to the game.
All her teammates respect her for her ambition, confidence, and love for the sport. One senior, Gianna Nulty, left back on the field hockey team, who played alongside Audrey, showed Audrey’s hard work by saying, “Audrey is always in the correct spot on the field and ready on post at all times to tip the ball in.” Gianna shows how you can always count on Audrey and never doubt that she will be there when you need her. Elsa Parsons, junior midfield and defender on the team, said, “Audrey’s speed on the field is helpful in every game, and her endurance at all times is impressive.” Gianna and Elsa were starting players on the team this year, and their outlook on Audrey is the same; she is an asset to the team and positively impacts every player daily.
Audrey Frentzen is someone you can go to no matter what for tips in field hockey or life. As she goes to college, she will be greatly missed from the Pennridge team next year, but she will always be remembered and loved. She is not continuing her field hockey career in college, but it will always be a significant part of her life, with some of her favorite memories that she’ll remember forever.
