This year, football season has been a rollercoaster with teams fighting for the playoffs. Football fans are ready for playoffs starting this weekend. The playoffs start this Saturday with the fifth seed, the Los Angeles Chargers, up against the fourth seed, the Houston Texans. Then, late at night, the sixth seed, the Pittsburgh Steelers, will compete with the third seed, the Baltimore Ravens. The predictions are for the Chargers and Ravens to move on and beat the Texans and Steelers. It’s also predicted that the Chargers will win by three against the Texans and the Ravens will win by nine and a half against the Steelers.
The Ravens are looking to hunt their way to the Super Bowl, being the favorites to win the trophy against the Eagles. With the Ravens having a 12-5 record this season, they are bound to have a good playoff run. With top players like Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry, they have an elite offense capable of overcoming tough defenses. However, anything can happen in this league with extraordinary teams that can change predictions in the blink of an eye. The Lions also had an amazing preplayoff season and are a huge favorite to go all the way in the playoffs. Players like Jared Goff and Aiden Hutchison give them both a great offense and a strong defense to balance their play and make them a quality all-around team.
Pennridge Head Football coach and teacher, Kyle Beller, has been watching football for 38 years and has a lot of insight in this year’s playoffs. Beller is a big Philadelphia Eagles fan, being based in Pennsylvania, and makes his predictions for the upcoming games. “Eagles by a million,” Beller said. He states his passion for the Eagles winning against the Packers on Sunday night and hopes they’ll continue their rise throughout the playoffs. Being a 25-year Eagles fan, Beller truly wants the Eagles to win. He states that every 12 years, the Ravens win, which he describes as a huge phenomenon across the football world, so this year could mark the Ravens taking home the trophy on Super Bowl Sunday.
Kris Staib, a student at Pennridge High School, is also a huge Eagles fan and has been watching football for years. “I have the Eagles winning the whole thing, but I might be biased, so based on who’s playing the best, the Lions could go all the way,” Staib said. He has a biased opinion toward the Eagles, but truly thinks the Lions could win the Super Bowl. Staib also thinks the Rams will be able to defeat the Vikings. “I feel like that offense can do some scary things in playoffs.”
Football playoffs this year will be special, with teams having nothing to lose but a chance to win it all. Starting this Saturday, Jan. 11, football fans across the country will be rooting for their favorite teams and hoping for the best. This exciting road will last until Sunday, Feb. 9, for the Super Bowl. Anything could happen in this sport, so be on the lookout for rising teams!
