Choosing a prom dress is an exciting part of the high school experience, but it can also feel overwhelming. With so many styles, prices, and stores to choose from, where students shop can shape their entire prom experience. Two popular prom dress stores in the area, All Things Prom in Quakertown and Country Bride in Lansdale, both offer designer gowns and helpful staff, but they differ in how they approach prom shopping. Based on research and interviews with employees, each store provides a distinct experience for students.
All Things Prom is a locally owned boutique located at 245 W. Broad St. in Quakertown and has been serving the area for more than 10 years. The store carries sizes 000 to 30 and features designers such as Jovani, Primavera, and Colors, including an exclusive Jovani vault. The shop emphasizes personalized service, with both walk-ins and appointments available. According to employee Lillian Donofrio, prom appointments typically last about an hour and allow stylists to focus on helping each student find the right dress. She said one of the store’s goals is exclusivity, noting that the shop usually orders only one of each dress so students do not show up to prom wearing the same gown as someone else.
Donofrio said the most popular prom styles this year include deep V-necklines, low backs, and long trains, especially in deep jewel tones. Most students shop in the $400 to $500 price range, with dresses starting around $300. She recommends shopping as early as possible since prom season begins in January and dresses sell out quickly. Donofrio said she enjoys working at All Things Prom and appreciates the close relationships built with customers, adding that she will miss the job when she leaves for college.
Country Bride, located at 1537 N. Broad St. in Lansdale, offers a different prom shopping experience. Owned by Trish Burkholder, the store carries a wide variety of designers, including Sherri Hill, Ashley Lauren, Amarra, La Femme, Portia and Scarlett, and more. Country Bride offers an expanded size range, carrying sizes 000 to 36 as well as 12W to 24W. Unlike All Things Prom, Country Bride does not require appointments for prom shopping. Customers are welcome to walk in and take as much time as they need.
Employee Addison Didonato said popular styles at Country Bride this year include flowy dresses and hot stone dresses covered in gems. She said most students also shop in the $300 to $500 range. Didonato explained that most shipments arrive at the beginning of prom season, with additional dresses coming in through the middle of the season, depending on designers and shipping times. She described the store environment as welcoming and supportive, saying the staff is always willing to help customers feel comfortable.
When comparing the two stores, the biggest difference is the shopping atmosphere. All Things Prom offers a more boutique-style experience focused on one-on-one attention and dress exclusivity. Country Bride provides a more relaxed and flexible environment with a wider selection of designers and sizes. Both stores offer knowledgeable staff and trendy options, giving students strong choices when searching for the perfect prom dress.
Ultimately, whether a student prefers a personalized appointment or a casual walk-in experience, both All Things Prom and Country Bride help make prom shopping a memorable part of the high school journey.
