Finding My Passion

Journalism. To me, what seemed like an intense, busy subject to study became one of my great passions in just one school year. Before this class, I knew little to nothing about the art of journalism. In fact, all I knew was that I was a pretty good writer. Now, nearing the end of the school year, I have learned so much about writing, the importance of journalism, the different types of journalism, and so much more. I’ve learned to tap into my creativity more when writing, really find my voice, and get to write about matters that are important to me while learning practical writing rules and laws of journalism and writing.

I signed up for this class because I thought that I might be interested in Journalism. I never knew that I would develop such an interest in it to the extent that I’m considering it as my major. In fact, for my senior year, I’m doing dual enrollment just to further study the art of journalism. My newfound love for journalism is, of course, the work of Mrs. Gordienko. She inspired me to find my voice and write about the things that matter the most to me. Thank you, Mrs. Gordienko, for helping me find my newest passion.

I’m able to take the information I’ve learned in this course into the rest of my high school education, college, and the rest of my life. I hope to pursue journalism or communications in my future, so I was very lucky to be able to learn so much base knowledge from this course. Looking back on my writing for the beginning of the year to now, I’ve changed and evolved so much and I’ve gotten so many chances to get out of my comfort zone and really learn what journalism is all about.

This was one of my favorite classes this year, and I’m sad to let it go. I leave with the utmost confidence that I’m prepared with the basics of journalism and good knowledge of writing with me at all times.
