The Power of Journalism

The power of journalism is constantly growing due to today’s advancements in technology. Journalism is everywhere. We have newspapers, and now, we have millions of examples of journalism right on our phones. Journalism is only going to grow, and it has taught me some very important skills as a young writer.

When I first started this class, I wanted to become a better writer. I wanted to learn different styles, techniques, and essential skills of good writing. Throughout the class, I have learned much more. I have learned to use my own voice. Journalism has taught me that each style, technique, and skills are different for every writer. If every writer wrote the exact same, journalism would be boring. What is truly important to each and every journalist is having their own voice. How I want to write, and what I want to say depends on me, and what works best for me. I have learned what my type of voice is. Journalism has taught me what I like to write, and has given me the ability to express my thoughts.

Journalism has also taught me to use my voice. While working on my beat project, I really enjoyed talking about the arts, specifically musical theatre. I am super passionate about that topic, and it was really special for me to express that interest. I like blogging, and writing about my favorite shows, and experiences in the theatre arts. I was able to talk about my personal experiences, and people could relate to what I was saying. I talked about auditions, good and bad, and readers could relate to experiences. Journalism has shown me how much I enjoy writing about my passion, and I would love to continue to express it.

Journalism has an impact on everyone. Everyone is always reading something. Journalism is becoming a bigger topic due to advancements in technology. Journalism has taught me what I like to write about, it has helped me find a voice in my writing, and has given me many topics I like to write about. Taking this class has shown me how much I have enjoyed writing, and has shown me that I will continue to write in my future. Thank you for listening.
