Positives and Negatives of Snow Days

Colin Post, Student Writer

Everyone seems to love snow days, you get off from work/school, get to play in the snow, and who doesn’t love snow? Although for many people this day of relaxation can be nice, snow days can become an extremely unproductive day for many.  As Pennridge students have experienced the effects of snow days, we thought it was important to understand how some of our classmates feel about the issue.

Pennridge senior, Aidan McCloskey is someone who loves snow days. Aidan spent his time from home relaxing and taking a mental break from everything going on in his life. Aidan said, “It’s just relaxing to know I get to be home, and not have to worry about anything. Days like these are perfect to just chill.” Most people seemed to agree with Aidan but, Pennridge student Joe Sullivan feels differently about the issue. Joe hates snow days, explaining how sitting around all day leads him to getting no work done. Joe said, “I just sit in my house trapped all day having no energy to do anything, any energy I have just goes to shoveling. I usually wish I could be doing something productive, rather than sitting at home watching the snowfall from the sky.”

After hearing two sides of how someone deals with snow days it is interesting to know that not everyone enjoys this day of rest. For people who feel like snow days are unproductive there may be ways to change that. Other than shoveling snow some things you could do at home include reading, doing homework, cleaning, and spending time with family.
