Philadelphia Phillies 2021 Season

The Phillies won the World series twice before, once back in 1980 and another time back in 2008. This year the Phillies started off their season with a 6-6 record placing them in second. They are in the NL East bracket along with Mets placed in first, Marlins placed in third, Nationals placed in fourth, and Braves placed in last.

The Phillies have started off this season pretty promising. They were able to beat the number one seed not once but twice. This gives the team all of the confidence in the world knowing they have the capability to beat any team. “I think everybody has a ton of confidence,” Phillies manager Joe Girardi said about the bullpen. The bullpen this year mainly consists of the top three pitchers, Aaron Nola, Zack Wheeler and Zach Eflin. Mario Santos said, “I think the Phillies have the potential to win.” It is still early in the season, things could get much better, but could also get much worse. If they keep up their gameplay they have a good chance.

Along with their team gameplay Rhys Hoskins recently made his big-league debut on August 10, 2017, he is tied for ninth in baseball in home runs, with 92 homeruns. The team’s ERA is also 4 earned runs above last season. The Phillies 12 games in have played the Braves and the Mets. They were able to beat the Braves 4 times and the Mets twice. Rhys Hoskins is the fourth player in Phillies history behind Ryan Howard (2010), John Kruk (1993) and Del Ennis (1950) to have seven extra-base hits through the team’s first six games. He has six doubles and one home run. Hoskins has been the one player along with Nola that seems to have a massive role on the team. They have been playing above standards of the rest of the team and are only getting started. Hoskins could break many more records and have his name on many awards.

With plenty of time left in the season, the Phillies have had a pretty decent start placing them in second behind the Mets in their whole NL East bracket. Do they have what it takes to go all the way like they did back in 2008?
