Grey’s Anatomy: 15 Years in the Making

As I’ve grown older and progressed in shows and movies, I’ve definitely gotten myself hooked on a few shows. It’s easy to be drawn in from the first episode or even the first few episodes. It makes you wonder- what’s going to happen next? Is a romance going to form? Does this relationship end? So many questions! These questions have been asked by the viewers of Grey’s Anatomy for 15 years, this year. The anniversary of the show has drawn in even more viewers as people are amazed that a show can stay on the air for that long and still have the viewers hooked! It is definitely intriguing because the show has racked up over 4.9 million views on air. This ABC show has not only racked up views, but also the actors’ net worth. Patrick Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo, the two main characters, are worth 80 million dollars. After the show aired on March 27, 2005, these actors had no idea what the network had in store for them. The show has truly changed these people’s lives, not only actors but viewers as well. 15 years is an amazing accomplishment.

In an interview with a long-time viewer, Tori Claire, she believes that the show was amazing until the last two seasons. When asked how the show has progressed, she said she prefers the original seasons over the past two, because they have become too far-fetched and repetitive. Not to mention the episodes about Covid-19. Regardless, she still agrees that the show has impacted her for the better over the years.

In an interview with a viewer since 2013, Brittany Chapman was asked how the show progressed. She responded quickly with “The show has progressed a lot in terms of content related to real-world events and advancements in technology and filming. The quality of the audio and video has really advanced and I think they do a good portrayal.” Brittany was amazed by how realistic the show is. As a veterinarian, Brittany is familiar with a lot of the “Med-talk” in the show, and she was blown away by how realistic it is, and how the writers set the viewers in a realistic mentality of the hospital ER. Not only the realistic features but also the attention grabbers! When Brittany was asked why she kept watching, she said “The anticipation, I guess! It definitely keeps the viewers drawn in.” The show will continue to carry on and keep viewers drawn in. Hopefully, there will be many more years of Grey’s Anatomy to come.
