Guess Who’s Back
The Return of the Kardashian Empire
The Kardashian Family took a break for a little to focus on themselves, but by popular demand, they are back and better than ever. This is in regards to their ended TV show “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” During this break, the Kardashian and Jenner sisters focused on themselves, their family, and their individual passions. “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” ran on air for 20 seasons, starting in 2007 and ending in 2021, and was a very successful TV show. Although the break was short and they weren’t out of the public light, it was helpful for the family to ground themselves.
Many question why the Kardashians are famous, but it all started with the late Robert Kardashian, a successful defense attorney. Robert Kardashian was OJ Simpson’s lawyer in his public trial. Robert Kardashian and Kris Jenner had Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, and Robert together. This was the start of the Kardashian family in the spotlight. After Kris and Robert Kardashian got divorced in 1991, Kris got remarried to Olympic Swimmer Caitlyn Jenner and had Kendall and Kylie Jenner. Another addition to the reasons the Kardashian family is famous was a released explicit tape of Kim and Rapper Ray J in 2007 that blew up across social media.
There are people that think that the fame the Kardashians have is not deserved. Tyler Murphy, a teacher at Pennridge High School, was asked if the Kardashians are rightfully famous. He started by saying “Is anyone rightfully famous?” and led with “People that should be famous we don’t value, but they are rightfully famous for today’s world, so yes”. Murphy is implying that they are famous for no reason, but because of the world we live in today and how society idolizes certain people, he agrees with why they are famous.
The new show, “The Kardashians,” aired on April 14, 2022. Two episodes have been released so far; new episodes come out every Thursday. The preview trailer on YouTube has over 12 million views, which goes to show the energy surrounding the new show. The preview foreshadows several major events such as Kourtney and Travis Barker’s (lead drummer in Blink-182) engagement, Kylie’s new pregnancy, complications between Khloe and Tristan Thompson (NBA player for the Chicago Bulls), and Kim’s love life. The first two episodes unload a lot of drama that attaches the viewer to tune into the next several episodes to figure out the end of the story.
Maria Lera-Lozano, a student at Pennridge High School, never watched “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” besides short funny clips on TikTok, but was intrigued about “The Kardashians.” Watching the first episode, her initial impression was that the “intro was cool, at some points it got boring, but some parts were really funny.” Lera-Lozano said that she will watch the show when she needs a laugh. The brains behind the show and arguably the whole entire family is the one and only Kris Jenner. Kris Jenner is the “momager” (manager) helping manage the multiple Kardashian/Jenner businesses. Some of the well-known brands she manages are Kylie Makeup, KKW Beauty, Good American, Skims, and Poosh, the list goes on and on.
Not everyone is in love with the Kardashians; they have their haters just like all other celebrities. Murphy is not a big fan of the Kardashian/Jenner Family. Although he is not a fan, he still admits “Kris is a great momager; the family would be nowhere without her”. Murphy also knows that “their marketing is amazing” and is a big part of the family keeping their fame now. “The Kardashians” will be a new go-to tv show for many people when they are in need of a laugh or just want some drama. The show offers many plot twists and cliffhangers in each episode which pull you into wanting to watch more.
