A Bullseye at Target

Since 1962 Target has been providing people with affordable and convenient necessities for daily life. This is still evident to this day, from toiletries all the way to clothes you can find at your local Target. Since its opening, “over 75 percent of US residents live within a 10-mile radius of a Target,” according to Target’s website. Which is an exponential growth since their humble beginning.

Target is not only convenient in the community because they have a wide variety of goods but also because the majority holds a CVS pharmacy. This allows the average shopper, a 40- year- old, to pick up their prescriptions as needed while shopping. Partnering with multiple brands is nothing new to Target while they hold deals with, “over 45 brands,” according to Target’s website.
They also provide affordability to the masses. This is achieved by offering not only name-brand items that normally hold a higher cost but also their own generic Target brand goods. This provides all incomes with affordable prices, with high quality. According to local teenager Griffin Earet, “ I think their prices are phenomenal. My mother goes there sometimes for our groceries, and I think they’re 20 percent cheaper than somewhere like Landis or Weis.” This just goes to show that someone who doesn’t necessarily do the spending notices a major difference in the grocery bill. This just goes to prove their tagline, “Expect More, Pay Less,” is true. All employees are offered a 10 percent discount for all items in the store. This is a rather small discount for their workers compared to the “$106 billion they made in revenue in 2021”, according to Target’s website. The reasoning for this may be the fact that they need to offer the discount to all the employees in their 1,948 stores located in just the U.S.

Another thing that shoppers can enjoy is that most Targets have a Starbucks in them, which makes long shopping trips much better for some. According to Bobby Natali, “The fondest memory I have with Target is going with my girlfriend. She likes to look at the makeup section, and at first, I feel annoyed, but she bribes me with Starbucks, and I give in. That’s one of the things I love about Target too, and they have a Starbucks usually attached.” This just goes to prove that people that do not even want to go to Target still manage to have a good time.

At the end of the day, Target is a convenient and affordable retail store that allows people a one-stop shop for most of their needs. They offer medication and clothing along with goodies for all ages, Like toys, food, kitchen aids, and even college dorm apparel. Located across the US, they offer good prices to all consumers, even offering great sales on top of their basic good prices. From the mouths of two separate boyfriends that did not necessarily want to go to Target, it was a pretty good experience, and the prices were good for their lifestyle. At the end of the day, I think that you can, “Expect More. Pay Less.”
