Cutting Hair in Quarantine

Since Covid-19 has closed all salons, people have been cutting their hair at home. I have seen many botched haircuts online and I bet you have too. Most of the videos I have seen of people cutting their hair involves them pulling all the hair to the front of their head, tying it up, and cutting it. I’m here to inform you that this is not the best way to cut your hair. Just tying up your hair and cutting it is going to ruin your hair. Regular scissors are not meant to cut through hair. They can leave your hair choppy and unnatural looking. Tying up your hair and cutting it can leave the hair uneven and shorter than you’d expect it to be. Not having someone to assist you can make the cutting process more difficult than it needs to be. Luckily, there is another way to do this.
Before you get ready to begin cutting, make sure you have hair ties, a comb, and hair cutting shears. Shears will make cutting your hair easier and they are also what your hair stylist would use. It’s best to straighten your hair before sectioning it. If you have curly hair, do not straighten it. If you straighten your curly hair and cut it, it will be a lot shorter than you intend it to be. Section your hair into four pieces instead of one or two. There should be two sections on each side. Don’t pull your hair to the front when sectioning. Put a hair tie in each section where you want to cut it. Make sure your hair is straight down while you do this. Before you cut, check to make sure all your hair ties are even. Then cut below the hair ties. After cutting each section, pull out the ties and make sure your hair is even. Congratulations! You have cut your hair!
