Rolling the Bowling Ball at Earl-Bowl Lanes

The entrance to Earl Bowl Lanes with Edgar in front

Have you or your friends ever had trouble finding something fun to do? Something that you may find refreshingly entertaining is bowling. From Pennridge High School, the closest bowling alleys are in Earlington and Quakertown PA they are called Earl-Bowl Lanes. Off of route 309, the bowling alley is near a movie theater and many places to go out to eat. So it’s in a very convenient location for spending some time with some friends or family. Entering the bowling alley we instantly noticed how clean the space was. The place is set up simply so that once you walk through the main doors you see the 24 bowling alleys in front of you. Once you are inside, the front desk will ask you your shoe size and give you a rental pair of bowling shoes, the front desk will then tell you what lane you’ll bowl on, from there you just bowl! Shoe rental costs $2.75 and each game played will cost you $3.75 on the weekdays or $4.50 on the weekends. Earl- Bowl Lanes is a perfect place to gather friends and families for birthday parties or gathering events, both Earl-Bowl Lanes have a dedicated party room to fit plenty of people! At Earl-Bowl Lanes, there is a wide selection of bowling balls each with different colors and weights, they have various weights for anyone from ages 3+, making sure nobody is left out from the fun.

A couple of friends and I decided to head to Quakertown’s Earl-Bowl Lanes to test out the bowling alley. On arrival, we are greeted with a large-sized parking lot and the bowling alley with a mural of a man rolling a strike. When we approached the front desk the man working there gave us our shoes and gave us lane 12. Just like that, we were all set and ready to play. I’ve gone bowling a couple of times before but I wouldn’t say I am extremely good at bowling. Connor Redanauer, a friend of mine, is part of a bowling team. We asked him what got him into bowling. His answer was “My dad and uncle used to always bowl and they would take me to the lanes. I would just watch and it looked so fun so I thought I would try it” his family sparked interest in bowling. Redanauer’s advice to anyone wanting to bowl is to “take it slow, don’t get frustrated if you’re struggling”.

A thing I’ve noticed was that Earl-Bowl Lanes updated their terminals at the lanes. The terminals are used to input player names and keep track of the scores throughout the game. It was good to see that even bowling alleys are changing their technology to more modern tools. We played a game and it was insanely fun, we tested out various sized bowling balls and just had a blast overall we goofed off and just enjoyed our time there. At first, I was winning with a 20 point lead but my friend Robbie Pliszka ended the game with two strikes in a row almost getting a turkey (3 strikes in a row). A friend of ours Matt Shuck said “I have very little experience, but I still enjoy bowling” Matt expresses how you don’t have to be good at bowling to have fun. Once we were done bowling we decided to explore the arcade, they had various retro games and we saw many kids grouped at this one pinball game having fun and sharing laughs. Earl-Bowl Lanes is open from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day, making it a more flexible place to go. Going bowling every once in a while is refreshing and fun to do with friends and family. I highly recommend going to Earl-Bowl Lanes in Quakertown or Earlington PA.
