When you think of Disney, you usually think of how they can perfectly tell you a story through the power of pulling out emotions. They can create a world with a theme and characters, that connect people around the world. Surprisingly, some of these stories have a deeper and darker meaning than you would think. Believe it or not there have nearly been over 100 lawsuits that are annually filed against Disney for various incidents. Some of the beloved movies that we have grown up watching could have hidden theories that make some heroes, look like serial killers.

One of these classic movies is Peter Pan. There is a bizarre theory out there that the boy that never grows up is a serial killer. That’s right, Peter Pan was a deranged psychopath who tricked and trapped little kids in Neverland. Of course, this is only a theory but there is a lot of evidence that can lead people to believe that it is true. The theory consists of the idea that once he trapped the kids in Neverland, he killed them after they grew up, which is why they never could leave as adults. This theory is based on the original draft of J.M. Barrie’s famous novel. In the original draft of the novel, Peter is seen as a villain, who kidnaps children from their beds at night. They portray Peter Pan as a sociopath in the story. When Jamie Begley, a Disney fan was asked if she thought the movie was bizarre at all she answered “I do think it’s kinda strange, I never really have thought about it before. Now that I am thinking about it, the plot is kind of odd.” Before even hearing about the story, most people will agree that the plot of peter pan is quite strange. It’s up to you if you choose to believe this theory, but the pieces do come together.

Another classic Disney movie that has a dark theory is Cars. There was a theory that was started by David Chen, a podcast host of Culturally Relevant. The theory is about everyone’s favorite pickup truck, Mater, and how he may be a serial killer. In the movie, we see that Mater lives in a junkyard. In the junkyard, you can see that it is full of old cars, tires, and other car parts. Seeing this you may not think anything of it. But, it takes a different meaning when you remember that in the Cars universe, there are no people only cars. With that being said, where did all those old rusted cars come from? People also say that Mater keeps his victims’ parts as “trophies” for what he did and that is why the parts are all out in the open for everyone to see. Even if Mater wasn’t the one to kill the cars, he is still living in a junkyard full of “dead” cars. Now not much more is said about this theory however, it’s unsettling to think that Mater is sleeping in a graveyard of car parts.

Disney tells timeless tales of adventure and gives us new characters to love each time. Each Disney movie has its moments of lightheartedness but, there is always a dark and unsettling feature behind it. From Peter Pan being a serial killer to Mater sleeping in a car cemetery the theories just keep growing and growing.
