For many years there has been a debate on which fast food restaurant has the best chicken sandwich. Just a couple of years ago, The Penndulum did an article called The Birds Are Calling: Who Will Win the Chicken War? In the article, they determined that Burger King’s Original Chicken Sandwich was the best chicken sandwich. However, the data they collected only contributed to taste, presentation, crispiness, juiciness, ease of eating, and amount of chicken. In this updated version, we concluded that Chick Fil A’s Chicken Sandwich is the best of its kind. This decision was based on taste, nutritional value, public opinion, and how the sandwich is made.

In our search for the best chicken sandwich, we included sandwiches from KFC, Wendy’s, Chick-Fil-A, Burger King, and Bojangles. Our surveys found that around 68 percent of students at Pennridge High School say that Chick-Fil-A is their go-to chicken sandwich place. Popeyes came in 2nd place with around 20 percent, and Bojangles in 3rd place with 7 percent. Of the options stated, Chick-Fil-A has the overall healthiest foods. For example, their chicken sandwich has 440 calories and 29 grams of protein. When compared to the Popeyes chicken sandwich, which has 699 calories and only 28 grams of protein, it is clear that Chick-Fil-A is the winner. In Addition to having the best chicken sandwich, Chick-Fil-A also has the best sauces. When asked what she was looking for on a chicken sandwich, Nicole Didenko said, “good sauce on the chicken”. The famous Chick-Fil-A Sauce was voted 2nd best by multiple sources, including Restaurant Clicks, Thrillist, and The Daily Meal. It is no secret that the Chick-Fil-A Sauce is a fan favorite.

Chick-fil-A is a very popular fast-food chain with over 2,400 restaurants. Founded in 1967, the restaurant prides itself on selling 100 percent real chicken. The chicken is ordered daily, so it remains fresh. Chick-Fil-A uses boneless chicken breasts that have never been ground or separated. They also do not use any fillers, steroids, or hormones. When you order a Chick-Fil-A Sandwich, you can ensure you are getting the best quality possible. “I believe that the best chicken sandwich on the market is Chick-Fil-A, as the chicken is fried perfectly every time,” says Sabrina O’Shea, a high school student at Pennridge.

The Chick-Fil-A stores are also very clean. In a survey done in 2022, Chick-Fil-A was awarded first place for being the cleanest fast-food restaurant in America. This rating included interior cleanliness, food prep, and kitchen cleanliness. The employees are also very clean and careful about their job. The fast food chain has a 94 percent order accuracy, making it the highest percentile of fast food restaurants in the United States. To achieve this, the franchise uses digital training to teach employees to build muscle memory when taking orders.

After researching, we concluded that Chick-Fil-A had the best chicken sandwich, not only for taste but also because of its nutritional value. Although most fast food chains have objectively good takes on the chicken sandwich, nothing can outweigh the Original Chicken Sandwich from Chick-Fil-A.
