Trying New Things in Bethlehem

Starting the pasta tasting!

Have you ever been looking for a new adventure? If so, you should try Pat’s Pizza and Bistro, in Bethlehem! Pat’s was founded in 1974, by four friends. It was originally just a brick oven pizza shop, however, people liked it so much that they made it into a restaurant that has amazing pasta as well! They sell a pasta flight for 45 dollars where you can pick any three plates of pasta out of the seven different kinds to choose from that sound appetizing to you. This includes, ricotta gnocchi, cacio e pepe, penne vodka, tortellini alfredo, pappardelle aurora, fettucine con funghi, and the customer favorite, the sofia loren. Last year in 2022, over 5,000 flights had been sold. The flight weighs about three pounds and is presented to you on a long wooden cutting board. Perfect for you and your friends!

My crew and I decided to try it out. On Monday, we drove 45 minutes away to test out the pasta everybody was raving about. It was a very small restaurant but had a friendly atmosphere, and everyone was so nice, and respectful. Emilia Knott, a frequent customer at Pat’s said, “I’ve been coming here with my family for months now, and every time we go, they never disappoint us.” The food was outstanding. We decided to try the penne vodka, tortellini alfredo, and pappardelle aurora. First was the tortellini alfredo. The sauce was very creamy and rich with lots of flavors. Next was the penne vodka. It also had a very creamy consistency, with a little less flavor, but still a wonderful taste. Lastly was the pappardelle aurora which was long thick noodles that were mixed with a herb blend. The next time we visit there, we definitely have to try Sofia Loren. All of the pasta was creamy and had such a nice, Italian flavor to it. The waitress Samantha Frank said, “ I love trying new food here, but I will always love the Sophia Loren.” The only thing that we would not recommend would be the bread. It had a burnt, charcoal taste to it. This is because the chefs cook this break on the grill, so it has that unappetizing flavor to it. They can make this better by putting it in the oven, so it has more of a crunchy flavor and won’t have that after-taste to it.

Overall, this experience was very fun, and it was such a nice way to get out of the house and try something new. If you are ever wandering the streets of Bethlehem, I would 100% recommend this restaurant to family and friends. It is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. It is also available for takeout if needed. If you are not in the area, Pat’s Pizza and Bistro is also located in Delaware and New York.
