Conan Gray has become a breakout star in the past year. After releasing his album “Wishbone,” which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and became his biggest debut ever and highest peaking album in the U.S., he began the Wishbone World Tour in 2026. Conan Gray started his career as a teenager, uploading vlogs and covers of songs on YouTube until he landed a record deal with Republic Records in the summer of 2018 at 19 years old. His debut extended play, “Sunset Season,” gained him over 300 million streams online and paved the way for his debut album, “Kid Krow,” which reached No. 5 on the Billboard 200 in 2020 and marked the biggest new U.S. artist debut of the year. The most famous song on the album, “Heather,” has accumulated nearly 2 billion streams on Spotify and has been certified 4x platinum in the U.S. “Heather” has also created something of a holiday within his fanbase called “Sweater Day,” referencing the lyric in his first line, “I still remember, the third of December, me in your sweater, you said it looked better.” People in his fanbase hope to have someone to give them a sweater on Dec. 3 every year, to honor the song.
With his new album and tour coming out, chatter about Gray has shot up exponentially. His new world tour has been wildly successful so far. Jill Stephenson, a fan of Gray’s, said, “I think he’s doing so well and it feels like he actually should be performing on a stage that size, like that show could not be constrained to a really small venue,” according to an article in CanCulture Magazine. His stage presence and enrapturing songwriting have helped him garner a large fanbase. According to Spotify, Gray has 25.1 million monthly listeners. Molly Walker, a fan of Gray who attended his concert at the Mann Music Center, said, “He just has a genuine way of interacting with the crowd, and his voice has a way of making you feel what he is feeling.” Gray is able to connect with his fans at his live shows, something that has made his current world tour so successful. Bailey Good, a huge fan of Gray’s who has been to three total concerts, said that Gray’s was her favorite. Good says, “I enjoyed his concert the most, but mostly because I like his music the most. His concert really had a range of his songs. With a lot of [other] musicians, it feels like you’re listening to the same thing over and over, but he wasn’t like that.” Gray is so successful because he performs in a way that sets him apart from other artists.
Gray continues to gain followers, extending his reach to more and more music lovers as time goes on. The success of his new tour and the excitement around it are signs of the trajectory his career is on. Gray will continue his world tour with upcoming shows in New York and New Jersey. We encourage you to go if you can to see one of the biggest tours out right now!
