Re:vival’s Soup and Soul is a weekly soup kitchen and meal. It is also a community outreach program that helps people in need in the Perkasie Area. Re:vivals is located at 1000 Ridge Rd, in Perkasie, PA. It is an outreach of the Renew Bible Church of Perkasie. The building that is now Re:vivals was originally a restaurant. It was purchased by Renew Bible Church in 2015, with the intended purpose of serving the greater Perkasie area.
The Soup and Soul program was started in 2017 as a soup kitchen and is open every Tuesday night. Dining is open from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., and the drive-thru is open from 5:00 to 5:15 p.m.The Chaplain of Re:vivals, Adam Mellor, said that the growth of Re:vivals has come from responding to the needs of the community, stating, “We continuously assess the needs of this community.”
Adding on to Soup and Soul, Re:vivals also has free counseling and mental health services. This is provided for grief share, weekly coffee nights, block parties, and other community events. The Chaplain, Adam Mellor, also said that Re:vivals’ outreach program helps residents to become aware of what they provide. He added, “No one can utilize your resources until they become aware of them.”
Re:vivals is faith-based, and there is sometimes a misconception that only Christians can attend, but it also opens its services to anyone regardless of their religious beliefs. The Chaplain stated, “Regardless of whether you believe or not, we will provide assistance to you.”
Re:vivals has over 300 volunteer members who assist with different things, including food service, outreach events, counseling, and tutoring. The Kitchen Manager, Andy Weiss, said, “Volunteers and guests attending have significantly increased since they started Soup and Soul.” He further stated, “We have roughly doubled our numbers since we started”.
He also added that the impact of Soup and Soul is more than just providing food. He stated, “It’s so much more than just a one-night weekly soup kitchen.” There are also many memories created, such as when “One year we had Carson Wentz come and serve with us”, Kitchen Manager Andy Weiss said.
The leadership of Re:vivals wants to continue to expand its resources and services throughout the Perkasie area, and wants to continue to help based on the needs of individuals throughout the community.
