During the fall, there is no question where numerous Pennridge students will be on a Friday night: they will be seated in P-Block for Friday Night Lights, also commonly known as FNL in the community.
Throughout the season, students, friends, and families rally under the Friday Night Lights at Pennridge High School’s Helman Field at the Grand View Health Stadium. They gather to support the Pennridge Rams football team and shower the players with school spirit. With the football season starting in August and running deep into November, Pennridge students showed up and showed out. Students crowded P-Block, the student section of the bleachers. Every game, there was a new theme that students went all out to support.
This season was marked by numerous records and titles for the Rams. They set a school record for the most wins in a season with a total of 13. They also started the season off 7-0 for the first time since 1964. Along with this, the Rams had a huge win, their first against North Penn since 2012. The Pennridge Rams became the 2025 Suburban One League National Conference champions and made it to the District 1 6A Final. To close out the season, the Rams defeated the Quakertown Panthers in the 96th annual Thanksgiving Day game. Throughout all this, the P-Block remained loud and proud. There was a variety of traditional chants started by P-Block leaders Sam Pleibel, Ronan Smith, and Nick Linder, such as “You can’t do that!” “Give me a P!” and “Defense!” Themes ranged from USA, to gold out, pink out, and white out, to neon, and Hawaiian. Those who bought tickets arrived hours before the game to get a front row spot and to show their support each and every Friday night. P-Block was simply the place to be. A senior at Pennridge High School, Piper Wimmer, described this as the best year of P-Block. She stated, “In past years, not that many people went, and this year was just the most fun. We had a helicopter fly over one game, which was really cool, and every time the band came over in front of P-Block, everyone went crazy.” Through the extended season, students continued to pack the stands, ensuring the bleachers shook.
Another Senior at Pennridge, Jess Burnhauser, described P-Block as “loud, rowdy, and spirited.” However, Friday Night Lights isn’t only about football and cheering. She says she likes going to the games to hang out with her friends and make as many memories as she can. These games are an outlet for students to live in the moment and have fun with the people around them because high school doesn’t last forever. Senior Mitch Santoro is friends with many of the players on the team and enjoys watching them play. He says his favorite part about FNL is “seeing the Rams wreak havoc on other teams.” Even though the season didn’t end as many wished, this year, P-Block was one to remember. It ended the same way it started. With a crowd, very proud and extra loud. Hoping for the team to score touchdowns or field goals isn’t the most important. It’s everything and everyone surrounding the field. Not only students attend. Teachers and other staff tag along, and they bring their own children. Middle school students also take up a significant portion of the stands. They love to get a taste of what their high school experience will look like in a year or a few years from now, and students and parents of Pennridge students volunteer to work the snack stands. Togetherness is the ultimate showstopper. Food and drinks aren’t the only things the games have in store. At the most popular games, like gold out and pink out, t-shirts, and even bandanas were up for grabs. You can walk around and take your time, because every seat in P-Block has a clear view of not only the score, but the determination and passion radiating from every home player on that turf. Each chant and every theme created new opportunities for the students and players to appreciate their team and their school. Even though the lights may be off for the rest of the year, they will always turn back on, shining bigger, bolder, and brighter for the Rams’ next season of good old American football.
