Erin Corbett is a student at Pennridge High School who plays soccer for Pennridge and the Ukies. Erin emphasizes the importance of conditioning when she states, “As a player, when I get tired, my decision-making significantly decreases. So, having better fitness, my decision-making is much better.” This statement proves that soccer isn’t just about the legs; good physical health allows players to execute plays faster under pressure. Avery Runk is another student at Pennridge High School who plays soccer for Pennridge and FC Delco. Avery agrees that fitness is a huge part of playing soccer. She explains that when “out of shape, it is so much harder to be quick on the ball. It is harder to move when my legs feel heavy. But when I am in shape, it just makes everything much easier to do, cleanly and efficiently.” This goes to show how important the fitness aspect of soccer is. Being physically in shape gives a player a huge upper hand in things like ball control because fitness level corresponds with agility.
