Journalism: A Great Class

I thought journalism was a great class.  If you don’t mind writing or prefer reading over writing, I would definitely recommend taking journalism.  If you want to improve your writing, take journalism.  I didn’t think I was a super strong writer going into this class, but as I wrote more and more articles I was much more confident in my writing ability.  This class taught me how to write in a newspaper setting and to draw the reader in and keep them interested.  My research skills improved throughout the investigative research project.  It was an important part of taking this class that taught me how to research better and how to interview people.

I also enjoyed working in a newsgroup, even though that time was cut short.  It was my favorite part of the class.  My newsgroup hung out after school and reviewed a new pizza place and a new movie.  A great thing about this class was the people in the class, everybody was friends.

In the future, even though I don’t plan to go into communications, things I learned in this class will still stick with me.  Working with newsgroups taught me how to pick up slack if a member missed class and knowing that they would do the same if I was out.  My research and speaking skills improved from some of the projects we had throughout the year.   This class was very enjoyable and also helpful as my senior year English class.
