WeRateDogs: Saving Dogs One Rate at a Time

With the invention of the internet, very rarely does there come a time where entertainment and good deeds mix. WeRateDogs is this perfect modern amalgamation of humor and acts of kindness. The social media account accomplishes exactly what the name suggests, they rate dogs on a, frequently questionable, scale of one to 10. Matt Nelson, the account’s manager, rarely gives a dog a rating lower than 12/10. This is because, according to Nelson, “all dogs are better than perfect”.

Although every dog is perfect, some still do rise above the rest. The most unique and influential dogs receive the elusive rating of 15/10. This rating is typically only achieved by hounds who have extensively served their community or have extraordinary traits. But WeRateDogs does not only feature the youngest and most spry of pups. Nelson has a weekly event, Fundraiser Friday, in which he promotes a dog in need of assistance to his massive audience. These hounds are either in poor medical condition or in need of a home. He provides their backstories, a rating, and a link to donate to their causes, or adopt.

Nelson’s followers are encouraged to contribute whatever they can to help these dogs out. The fundraisers frequently reach their goal in 15 minutes or less. According to Nelson, he came up with the idea for Fundraiser Friday’s after his account gained major traction. Nelson “realized there was this power and I needed to utilize it for some sort of good”.

WeRateDogs brings smiles to millions of social media users and help to thousands of dogs as well as their owners. If you are interested in quality content, adorable dogs, and helping others, 13/10, WeRateDogs deserves your follow.
