Smoking Negatively Impacting Lives
Smokers are blinded by the fact that smoking doesn’t only affect themselves, but that it affects people around them as well. Daily lives of non-smokers are affected as well and or just as much as smokers themselves. The dangers of everyone’s well-being need to be known to the public. Smoking has an overpowering negative outlook than positive in people’s lives. Loved ones and people who even are just around are affected and can have their lives altered and not even be the main source of it.
Studies done in 2019 have come back with results indicating that for every 100 people, 14 smoke. The number of people who struggle with a disease relating back to smoking are currently at a rate of more than 16 million lives in America. Smoking doesn’t only affect the smoker, but everyone around the source gets afflicted. Second-hand smoking has been proven to be even more harmful to one’s body than smoking a cigarette directly. “Absolutely smoking affects all aspects of life.” Mrs. Davy from Pennridge High School said as she had lived in a household with a smoker. Continuing saying, “Second hand smoking is much worse, there is no filter whereas there is for the main smoker.” About 35% of children have been exposed to secondhand smoking. From being in the same household as one who smokes, children have no control of inhaling smoke since they are around it constantly. This increases the risks of contracting potentially damaging issues to one’s body such as cancer and heart disease.
Overcoming the addiction of smoking is a worldwide issue that will never be fully terminated. Approaching this issue by making people fully aware of not only their own lives, but everyone surrounding them as well will be beneficial to all. By kindly continuously informing people of the risks they are taking and the financial downfall they get themselves into, will hopefully help them come to the realization of how it is such a negative way to live what could be a healthy life.
