The Burrito Battle

When you’re in need of a delicious meal, burritos are one of the most popular choices. Rice, chicken, cheese, lettuce, how could you go wrong? What our newsgroup decided to find out is which restaurant does it best. We tested out two of the most well-known franchises, Bubbakoos Burritos and Chipotle. We compared their menus, slogans, environment, and of course the taste.
Our first task was looking at the menus. When we compared the two, Bubbakoos variety surpassed Chipotle’s. Their menu items include burritos, quesadillas, bowls, tacos, nachos, taco salad, the chiwawa, tater tots, wings, empanadas, fried Oreos, and more. Meanwhile, Chipotle only offered burritos, bowls, quesadillas, salads, and tacos. As for slogans, it was hard for us to choose a clear winner. Chipotle’s slogan is “Food with Integrity”, while Bubbakoos is “Building better burritos since 2008”. Both slogans have a different feel to them. Chipotle’s slogan gives customers the idea that their food is fresh and healthy. It makes people go in thinking they will get a good quality meal. Bubbakoo’s slogan also makes customers expect good quality food as well as promising that they will get a better burrito than other places. It sets up high expectations.

Our first stop was Chipotle. We started out a little apprehensive when Paige Swartley, a senior at Pennridge High School, claimed that “The last time I came to chipotle the chicken had bones in it.” To be fair, we decided to order the same things from each restaurant and compare the taste. We ordered a bowl with chicken, lettuce, white rice, salsa, cheese, and sour cream. When we walked in, there was mostly white decor with wooden and metal counters and tables. It had more plain colors, but that contributed to the clean and modern feel. The price of a bowl at Chipotle was cheaper at $8.75. The bowl tasted good and was filling. “Chipotle put a better amount of sour cream in our bowl”, said Swartley. As a group, we agreed that our favorite part of the experience was the cleanliness and calm vibes Chipotle had.

After Chipotle, we headed over to Bubbakoos Burritos. The decor inside was very different from what we had just seen. Bright green accents and black counters surrounded us. It had more of a funky style and was more playful. We were greeted by the large menu with a huge variety of meats, salsas, toppings, and desserts. We ordered the same chicken bowl with Bubbakoos grilled chicken. This bowl was more expensive, at $9.75. However, Elizabeth Fronstin, another senior from Pennridge High School said, “I liked the bowl from Bubbakoos more because they gave better portions than Chipotle”. The bowl had excellent flavors and as a group, we liked Bubbakoos salsa better. “Bubbakos has a greater attention to detail”, said Swartley, when noticing the lettuce was chopped cleaner. We ended up ordering the fried Oreos for $6.00. They were delicious and it was another plus for Bubbakoos, since Chipotle does not offer any dessert options.

Each restaurant had its pros and cons. Bubbakoos had a greater variety of options and greater portions, but they also had a greater cost. Chipotle is a classic with better sour cream and a better price, but is it overrated? After deliberating, we decided that Bubbakoos Burritos is our winner! Bubbakoos Burritos won our hearts in the end. The better quality and variety of food make up for the higher price. It is a place that can make everyone happy no matter what you like. Our newsgroup believes that everyone should take a trip to Bubbakoos Burritos next time you are looking for a flavorful meal.
