Pennridge Pride: The District Art Show

Flyer for the Pennridge District Art Show.

The Pennridge School District is full of hundreds of talented students. One area of specialties that Pennridge flourishes in is their art show. Pennridge High School hosts two art shows a year, not including the performing arts. These shows consist of the Pennridge High School art show and the Pennridge District art show. The Pennridge High school art show consists of just high school students’ art and is held in May. The district art show was held this past Sunday and consisted of art from every art class in the district.

The district art show allowed 30 pieces of art from each class. All seven elementary schools, three middle schools, and the high school were included in the show. It took place on March 20, 2022, at the Pennridge High school from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The high school offers 11 art classes that all participated in the show, and the younger students created their pieces in their introductory art courses. Student Devin Mcowen had one art piece in the show this past weekend. She takes the Ceramics II class this year and would recommend the class saying that ceramics is “more of a work at your own pace kind of class. Everyone works at different speeds and in this type of class, none of us are working on the same thing.”

The district art show allows Pennridge to bring all of its artists together, no matter the age. Students get to show off their work and experience their peer’s critiques and other ideas. People spend hours upon hours working on their art, and the art show allows them to show it off and be proud of what they accomplished. Tommy Loughran is an eighth-grader at North Middle School and attended the art show to look at all of the creations. Tommy comments that “my favorites were the ceramic pieces and the pieces from AP art… in the AP art pieces, you can feel the emotion in these drawings.”

The art show brings together all ages of artwork, and this year’s pieces were phenomenal. Congratulations to each artist who had a piece in the show this year and to the talented high schoolers. Pennridge hopes to see more of your work in the next show in May.
