500,000 animals dead by the end of 2024, when is enough, enough? Not only does testing cosmetic products on animals cause many problems for them, but it can also cause cancer, endless disabilities, and even death. Many of these problems are not curable, leaving animals to suffer if not killed by the products. On top of this, it can cause disorders or mutations in the animals. Brand new chemicals that have never been seen before are being created due to animals being tested on. The animal’s sex chromosomes can be disrupted and can affect their future due to these mutations.
In regards to whether or not testing makeup products on animals is helpful for humans, Colleen Firmstone, a student at Pennridge High School, said, “It isn’t helpful for humans because we are all different, and we are different from animals.” In the matter of how animal testing affects the animals themselves being tested on, Firmstone said, “They don’t know what is being put on the animals, and if it is harmful or not, it could end up killing them.” Although some people take part in protesting for many things, Shari Meyer, a mother of three girls, said, “I wouldn’t take part in protesting to end animal testing.”
Animals are very important to people for many reasons. Whether they create things like bees do, they positively affect the environment, or help people who need help, as animals could do for them. For example, animals are capable of helping people who suffer from heart attacks, panic/anxiety attacks, who can’t see, or have a physical disability. Without animals, people will suffer. People are killing animals for something that helps enhance their looks. Due to a number of companies being put in the “hot seat” for their animal testing, they are at risk of going out of business. We need to bring recognition to the fact that we are harming and even killing animals for our benefit. How far is too far when it comes to testing products on animals, and risking not only their individual lives, but also their species, as hurting or killing them is affecting?
