If there is one thing that defines Jadyn Gulbinski, it’s how she puts her all into everything she does. Whether she’s up at bat, leading a club meeting, or finishing an AP assignment late at night, she puts her all into everything she does. At Pennridge softball and the elite Rock Gold Waye, Jadyn puts her all into everything she does. What truly makes her stand out is her ability to balance her determination with the joy for a game that’s been in her life since second grade. She started much like any kid, on a small club team to burn some energy. Jadyn says she started to get serious about softball around 4th or 5th grade, her spark for the sport never dimming. Jadyn said, “I love the feeling of being on the field, the competitiveness and playing on the field makes me happy. The work I put in makes it worth it.” She has built a reputation for herself as a valuable player and teammate because she proves that, day after day, she’s willing to put in the work. At home, she practices hitting off a tee and fielding ground balls with her dad, who has been one of her greatest inspirations throughout the years. On the field, Jadyn is known for her leadership and high-energy presence. Her teammates say she helps to set the tone during practices and games and helps to turn losing into a learning experience for both her and the team. However, her teammates rely on her for more than just her strong stats; they rely on her for encouragement. Meghan Holberg, a Pennridge senior and Jadyn’s teammate of four plus years, shared a story of how Jadyn was able to help her with her hitting. Meghan said, “I remember towards the end of our junior year, I was really struggling to get my bat on the ball and generate some hits. Jay pulled me aside, motivated me and told me I had nothing to lose. That same game I had two hits, and I had a lot of success in the couple games following that. She took the initiative to pull me aside and remind me she believed in me.” Aside from being a leader, teammates also touch on Jadyn’s fun side, noting how she is always one of the first people you will see singing and dancing to whatever song is playing. She radiates a constant positive energy that helps to create a safe and comfortable environment for the team.
However, what makes Jadyn’s story stand out is what happens when her practice ends. While most student athletes struggle with both school and sports, Gulbinski manages a schedule full of high expectations, and is still able to excel. While working a part-time job, she also is Vice President of Link Crew, an executive council officer, and a member of the NHS. These roles require the time and confidence that she displays behind the plate. On top of all this, Jadyn’s school schedule is also stacked with numerous AP and honors courses. Her success is a direct result of her discipline. Jadyn’s first priority is school, and then softball, but she is able to balance all this- and make it look easy. To Gulbinski, the hours she commits to the classroom, the work she puts in at her job, and the dirt on her cleats shape the athlete and leader she’s becoming.
With her leadership, talent, and growth, Jadyn isn’t just a player to watch, but one to look up to. She shows what it looks like to be successful step by step, rep by rep. For Pennridge and Rock Gold Waye, she’s proof that talented players are ones who give their full effort to any- and every, part of their life.
