Your senior year of high school is supposed to be one of the best times of your life. Pennridge High School has always done a great job providing fun opportunities for the seniors to participate in year after year with activities students don’t want to miss out on. From Senior Sunrise to the Washington D.C. trip, there is much to look forward to while you enter your last year of high school.

Washington D.C. Trip
The Washington D.C. Trip is offered exclusively to the seniors of Pennridge High School. This year’s trip will be on April 19, 2024. Perkiomen Tours and Travel provides transportation, and the bus stops along the way to get food. It is an American Government and Citizenship field trip, but you do not have to be in/taken that class to go. The Washington D.C. trip is a great opportunity to tour buildings and monuments with the others in your class.

Senior Skip Day
Throughout the last few months of senior year, the seniors pick a day or two to skip a day of school collectively. The decision to declare a “senior skip day” can be made just days before the day they want to skip. In the past, students have picked a nice, warm day to miss school and hang out with each other. Many take a day trip to the beach. A day has not been determined by the Class of 2024 yet but will aim for a day in April or May.

Senior Sunrise
Senior Sunrise is held at other high schools on the senior’s first day. At Pennridge, the Senior Sunrise is held during the last week of school. The Pennridge senior class gathers on the turf of Helman Field, where there is a good view of the sunrise. The students bring blankets, pillows, breakfast, and coffee to watch the sunrise together. They also wear something that represents the college they will be attending. Many female seniors paint a pair of jeans as a fun way to represent their future college. Senior Sunrise is a great way to honor hardworking seniors on their college commitments.

Graduation
Pennridge Graduation is held at Stabler Arena at Lehigh University, and the Class of 2024 will have their graduation on June 4. Stabler Arena is where Lehigh University’s Men’s and Women’s basketball teams play. Because the graduation is not held at Pennridge High School, former students have felt that the sentimental aspect of the graduation is taken away. Class of 2023 Pennridge High School graduate Kaitlyn McBride said, “I wish our graduation was on our turf…it would have been way better.” Although Pennridge’s Class of 2024 graduation will be at Lehigh University rather than Pennridge High School, it is still a monumental moment for high school seniors and will be special either way.

Prom
Senior Prom is another major event that Pennridge High School holds in the Lehigh Valley. The 2024 Pennridge Senior Prom will be held at SteelStacks, a ten-acre campus dedicated to arts, culture, community celebration, and fun. The building used to be the home plant of Bethlehem Steel but was later turned into an art campus and named “SteelStacks” in 2005. Pennridge senior Maria Lera-Lozano has high hopes for Senior Prom and believes it will be even better than her junior prom, “I think because I’ve already done it once, I know what to do differently and have fun.” The good food, lifelong friends, and the grand venue will all contribute to a great final celebration for Pennridge’s Class of 2024.
