Relax Your Mind During COVID-19

So as we all know, school is out for the rest of the year. For some there is humping for joy, for others there is grieving missed opportunities. This is not something that anyone in the world could have possibly prepared for, so no matter who you are this is a big change in daily activities. With social distancing put in place, and stay at home orders, many people are finding it hard to stay mentally well. For those who still do not have a daily routine, feel lost on what to do to help themselves, or just want to mix things up, here are some ideas on what you can do.

Workout: While some love the idea of working out, others hate it. However, there are more ways of working out than just running, or weight lifting. If you do not have any weights at home, here are some fun ideas that can take the place of that.

  • At home workout programs: Many fitness instructors are giving free at home workout plans, for example Chloe Ting and Alexis Ren. Their are also many free apps available that can cater to the equipment you have
  • Follow a yoga video: As simple as it sounds, yoga has many benefits on helping and diminishing anxieties and stress.
  • Go on a Bike ride: Even a short bike ride can help reduce stress hormones.

Learn an instrument: Many people tend to have bought an instrument with plans on learning at some point, but have not had the time to go through with those plans. Well right now is the perfect time. This can give you the chance to express the emotions you are feeling and release negative emotions.

Bake/Cook: If you ever feel a surge of panic and stress coming on, channel that into cooking or baking. Both of these will cause you to be engaged and almost forget about the problems you are going through.

Arts and crafts: Another simple way to distract yourself and let your mind relax, is to pick up some art supplies and create something with it. You can paint, draw, create, build. Express how you are feeling in the form of art.

Hopefully these easy tasks can help you de-stress, and put your mind at ease during these uncertain times of quarantine.
