Stepping Outside of Your Comfort Zone

Ever since I was little I knew that art was something I enjoyed; it always made me happy. Little did I know it would help me and so many others ease our unmanageable stress. Being assigned this beat project has really been a blessing in disguise. It helped me come back to reality when all I saw was negativity. Not only was the experimental part of this assignment fun, but so was the writing. I have learned so many things from this assignment as well as stepped out of my comfort zone. Making a podcast was definitely something I’d never thought I’d do, but now I know how! I think it was super cool that we got to make something that was public, where it could reach anyone who needed it or was interested.

Taking journalism has taught me so much and will help me so much in my future, no matter where I go. This course will teach you so many useful skills when entering the workforce. Skills in creating resumes, conducting/receiving an interview, and so much more. Coming into high school, I would have never thought that I would be writing for my school’s website/newspaper. If I could summarize the course into one phrase, it would be, as I said before, stepping out of your comfort zone. I am thankful for all that it has taught me and how much it has prepared me for greater things to come.

These past 74 days have been the craziest of my entire life, as well as for most of the people in the world. This pandemic has shaken the lives of so many. For some, stress levels have skyrocketed from so many worries and unknowns, and they haven’t been able to cope. Obviously, there are so many people worrying way more than I am, but I have been worried too. Having my senior year cut short was really tough on me. Not being able to really graduate was tough on me. A lot about this year has been really tough for me and so many others. Luckily, I have found the perfect activity that helps calm me down for the certain amount of stress that I feel. Art therapy is super helpful for me to ease my personal stress and it could possibly help so many others! Thank you to journalism for helping me realize all of this.
