Traveling by Sea

Seeing the world, experiencing culture, long agendas and unlimited food are all the craze while traveling. Traveling the world is something that most aspire to do. Although, how many have done it on 1,000-foot ships sailing away in vast oceans? We’re talking cruising. You can cruise anywhere in the world to discover coastal destinations and embrace the culture in small doses. When you’re done traveling for the day, you come back to the resort-like atmosphere and have fun nightly with your cruise directors. The nice part being, that you don’t have to worry about finding a place to stay, food or transportation at a foreign destination!

I’ve been lucky enough to set sail on many cruises, all at a different stage in my life. The ship caters to all stages of life and hosts activities for every age. When I was much younger, I could attend a variety of kid driven activities like day camp or Disney character breakfast. My mom gives an adult perspective saying that “I always looked forward to karaoke and the musicals put on by the performers. I enjoy the comedians as well and the piano bars are always fun to listen to some live music”. I’d have to say the ropes courses, comedy performances and waiter shows are my top things to do.

The beauty of cruising is you get to see a place for all its glory, but you don’t have to stay long. It’s a nice way to sample lovely or not-so lovely destinations and have leeway to go in and out of the ship when you’d like. It’s the perfect amount of time for any tourist to explore and participate in fun activities brought to you by the people who live there.

It all comes down to spending quality time with people and making everlasting memories. In reality though, people care about the food. A good number of vacationers want to experience high quality food and be able to indulge in ways that they wouldn’t at home. I asked my Grandma what meal she looked forward to the most on the ship and she said “Breakfast for sure since I have a wide variety of options that I wouldn’t be able to have all at once and the buffet style is a good way to get a sampling of each item for a balanced meal”. Although the food is not pertinent to the ship’s destination, it brings comfort and unlimited plates to each of its passengers. The wide variety of 24-hour treats, restaurants and quick service buffets will satisfy every nook and cranny. It leaves a worry-free experience for passengers since they do not have to stress over where to get their next meal and can enjoy their trip.

There are endless possibilities for cruising like Princess, Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, Disney, Silver Sea and the list goes on. Each line offers unique experiences and creates an atmosphere to cater to any kind of passenger. From my experience cruising is an all in one experience like nothing else. Next time you travel, think “Bon Voyage”.
