Prom Season: Where to Buy Your Dream Dress

With prom season right around the corner, the stress of what dress to choose, what color looks best, and where to buy your dress might take control. Figuring out where the ideal place is, you have to look at price and quality. Giana Rose Couture and Country Bride and Gents are two of the best local prom dress places, but which one is the best to go to?

Giana Rose Couture, located in Yardley, Pennsylvania, has a 4.9/5 star review based on Google. The store has a wide variety of dresses but is also a clothing store. Some of their dresses could be 500 to 800 dollars, but they sell them online for lower, more reasonable prices. In person, the dresses do match the original price and can be over 500+ dollars, but the quality is outstanding and original. Erin Leight comments, “I think Giana rose was better quality with the dresses, and they also had more detailed dresses.” The staffing has received great reviews that they were understanding and helpful, but you get assigned to one person as you shop. If you want to go online to get a glimpse at what kind of dresses Giana Rose sells, they include their prices next to the dress to get an idea of how much it is and if you’re willing to pay that much. Oftentimes online, they have good discounts versus the in-store prices. The store is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m on weekdays. Giana Rose is an appointment only store. You cannot just casually drop by to look, and as you try on dresses you have a time limit for finding the perfect one. Since it is an appointment only store, you are asked questions concerning the ideal dress, and your personal helper would choose out options for you. The return policy for Giana Rose is that there is only certain merchandise eligible for returns, plus you can only get store credit back, no exceptions. The eligible merchandise must still have the tags, be unused, unwashed, and must be 14 days of purchase.

Erin Leight’s dress from Country Bride and Gents – $439 (Ava Conolly)

The Country Bride and Gent, located in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, has a 4.5/5 star review based on Google. The store is a strictly prom and wedding boutique. Country Bride and Gent carries popular designer brand names. Some popular designers include Sherri Hill, Primavera, Jessica Angel, Jovani, and many others. The prices are dependent on the dress’ designer but are better matched to the dress than most boutiques and can vary between 100 to 800 dollars. Kate Dougherty went to both Country Bride and Gent and Giana Rose Couture and states, “Country Bride has more options and sizes available for everyone of all sizes. Giana Rose seemed like it only had sizes zero to ten.” Customer services at the boutique are mixed. Some reviews say that the workers were very unhelpful and judgmental, while others say their experience was excellent. If you wanted to scroll through their online catalog to look at some dresses, the page does not include prices, but right next to the dress is a button to call the store and check on its availability. The hours consist of 12 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Fridays, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturdays, and 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. Sundays. Country Bride and Gent is a no appointment necessary store, so you can walk into the store whenever you have free time. Country Bride and Gent does not allow returns or refunds, and will not hold a dress for you. It is, first-come, first-serve. But often, you can see if they can order the dress for you, but you do have to pay for it beforehand. Kate Dougherty also comments, “I would recommend Country Bride to literally anyone over Giana Rose any day.”

Choosing your prom dress is a difficult decision; so many factors get put into it. But both Giana Rose and Country Bride and Gent are both great places to find your ideal dress. Giana Rose’s quality is exquisite, but the prices at Country Bride and Gent are much more ideal. Happy prom season!
