A Cool Way to Kick Off Your Summer

As summer comes around the corner a lot of people are beginning to crave that sweet, cold treat everyone loves. Ice cream is a very popular treat to get during the summer. There are so many places to go like Rita’s or Dairy Queen, but by far the place with the best flavors and service is going to be Nina’s Waffles. Nina’s has many locations across the Bucks County area and can be reached by many. They have a location in Dublin, Doylestown, Peddler’s Village, New Hope, and Newtown. There is a location for everyone! Nina’s originally started out with them just making waffles when one day they decided to put some ice cream on top. They are a locally owned and operated ice cream shop that is ready to be your go-to summer place.

A little bit of history about ice cream itself is that it used to be a treat for monarchs during the 17th century. Then, in the 18th century, it was out in cookbooks and North America gained access to it. The first few ice cream flavors were some of the flavors we still have today like pistachio, and cookies and cream. Some flavors, however, were specific to the time and now we might think of them as peculiar like oysters or roses. It was mostly served in a glass with a handle like a teacup or a mug. Presidents including George Washington loved ice cream and wanted to have an icehouse or freezer just for ice cream put in the White House. The amount of ice cream intake skyrocketed after the Industrial Revolution making it a common delicious treat now.

Mia Mialetti is a worker at Nina’s Waffles in Dublin and loves working there. When asked why she loves it she said, “The atmosphere is a lot of fun.” Mialetti also said that she enjoys working with her friends and having them visit her while she is working. Additionally, Mialetti was asked why she wanted to work at Nina’s and she responded with, “My sister worked there first and we always went to the Doylestown one growing up and when we found out there was one in Dublin we wanted a job there.” This shows just how much people enjoy the energy and atmosphere of Nina’s so much, as it is such a fun place to go and get ice cream. Mialetti is also the girl who gets many of the fundraisers with Nina’s for our school, making it possible to raise money in a fun way.

A frequent buyer at Nina’s, Nicola Reid enjoys Nina’s very much. When asked why she enjoys it so much she said, “The food is good, the customer service is amazing, and the vibe is so nice. I feel so comfortable there.” Again, pointing out that Nina’s is such a great atmosphere. Talking more about the ice cream, Reid was asked whether or not she thought Nina’s was worth the price and she said, “I do think it’s worth it. I think the price has to do with the quality of the food. They make the waffles fresh for you.” The quality of the ice cream is well worth the price, it’s the best ice cream around. As Reid said, they make the waffles right in front of you using a housemade fresh batter. Reid also said that the entire experience is really fun, you can get some ice cream and walk around The Square and just have a good time while enjoying some ice cream.

There are a lot of ice cream places in our area and a lot of them are becoming busy as the warm weather rolls in, but no one can quite compare to Nina’s Waffles. They have a great atmosphere and many great treats like ice cream and waffles. They also have many different locations that make it available to anyone no matter where you are. If you are looking for a place to get a sweet treat this summer, head on over to Nina’s Waffles!
